Los Comuns Bateta is a red wine produced by Los Comuns in El Molar, in the region of Priorat.
Los Comuns is a project of Jordi Escoda and Agustí Perelló, two childhood friends from El Molar, in the heart of Montsant. After many years, they have reunited to make wine together. In 2010, the first vintage of their wine was launched, with a production of only 200 bottles.
Today, they cultivate 3.5 hectares of different plots, some of them their own, some of them leased, located on the border of D.O. Montsant and D.O. Priorat, but bottled without D.O.
Jordi and Agustí's objective is to produce wines that show the character of the area of "Los Comuns", a site of El Molar that is very rocky and difficult to cultivate.
Los Comuns Bateta is a wine made from Carignan and Grenache from a vineyard located in El Molar. Harvesting is carried out manually, selecting the grapes in the vineyard. Once they are destemmed, they ferment in plastic vats with a maceration of 2 months and a subsequent ageing in oak barrels for 6 months. It is produced without adding sulphites.
