Characteristics of Liberalia Cuatro

Liberalia Cuatro is a red wine from Toro produced by Liberalia Enológica.

This is a young winery in the town of Toro (Zamora), founded in 2000, notable for its vineyards which are almost 100 years old and their cultivation of ancestral indigenous varieties such as Moscatel de Grano Menudo, Malvasia or the Albillo.

Moreover, despite its youth, the quality wines of Liberalia Enológica have been internationally recognized.

Regarding Liberalia Cuatro, it is a varietal Tinta de Toro (Tempranillo). The grapes come from old vines between 60 and 70 years old.

For its preparation, Liberalia Cuatro undergoes 12 months maturing in barrels of French and American oak and 18 months in bottle.

Tasting notes Liberalia Cuatro

The 2013 vintage, rated as a very good one, began in a complicated way. In the early spring, in April and May, temperatures were low and there were heavy rains, significantly delaying the start of the growth cycle. This resulted in late flowering and therefore later ripening. Before the harvest, there was a considerable amount of rain, which produced an interspersed harvest. After a cold and rainy year, the profile of the wines they have produced are less concentrated than usual. Fresher and with a good acidity.
Sight Intense garnet. Tinted tear. Dense and deep. Nose Very intense aromas of ripe black fruit. Spicy and lactic notes. Presence of toasted oak. Taste Good entry, tasty and sweet. Fruity with round tannins. Very persistent.
Sight Color maroon covered in his heart and Cardenas layer, with a density in his agitation and his tinted tear us fill the view. Nose Unfold on the nose multitude of sensations, both for its high intensity, for the quality. The force is transmitted from the earth in all its grandeur, combining the spicy of the tertiary series, by the passage of the wine in oak barrels (clove, licorice and fine memories of bitter cocoa), with others in the series and lactic pastry, so revealing the presence of new oak. Taste In mouth has a sticky entry, which links to the sensations of sweet tannins that are domesticated in the bottle.

Designation of Origin D.O. Toro

In Toro, the red wines are mainly made with the Tinta de Toro grape variety, planted on soils of fluvial origin by the influence of the Duero River and its tributaries, grown on poor, sandy and dry soils the further away you move from the river. Toro offers powerful wines, well bodied, flavourful, complex, and tannic. Although on a smaller scale, the region also produces white wines using the Verdejo and Malvasía varieties. Since the ´80’s, Toro has experienced a revival in its wines, thanks to a new generation of highly skilled winemakers and the installation of many big names in the region, such as Pintia, a winery belonging to the Vega Sicília group, or Teso la Monja, part of Sierra Cantabria.
