Characteristics of Les Tosses

Les Tosses is a red wine produced by Terroir al Límit winery in a small village called Torroja, within the Q.D.O. Priorat. This wine is made of Carignan grapes from 70 year old vines.

This wine is produced with a non-interventionist philosophy, in order to show the terroir (slate) in the most natural way possible They also use environmentally-friendly biodynamic vine-growing methods. This wine is aged for 24 months in French oak "foudres" (large wooden vats). It is not clarified or filtered. Very limited production. It is recommended decanting this wine before enjoying it.

Tasting notes Les Tosses

The vintage began in autumn in the best possible way, with good rainfalls that would fill the water reserves for optimal growth development. Winter was characterised by low temperatures and even snow covered some areas of Priorat. March started wet and cold, which delayed the budding of the vines. In mid-May, flowering was encouraged and was followed by a somewhat unstable June with several rainfalls.
A year that started with some problems with the flowering but ended up being very good. Winter was colder and rainier than usual. Spring continued with days of low temperatures and a lot of water that delayed flowering and the consequent setting problems until the end of March, affected production. After a complicated year, when the summer began, the rains stopped and the temperatures rose, providing excellent ripening due to optimal rainfall during the year. The year has therefore been one of the best in recent years. Fluidity, acidity and concentration augur for a long life of the wines of this vintage.
Sight Very intense cherry red colour with maroon edges. Abundant tears on the glass. Nose Wide range of aromas such as very ripe black and red fruit, which prevail along with notes of its ageing, hardwood, spices and powerful balsamic hints that freshens a very personal nose. Taste In the mouth, it is intense, powerful and well-structured. Direct tannins and very defined acidity. Endless finish. The most mineral expression of Carignan grapes.

Production area D.O.Q. Priorat

Winery Terroir al Límit

Priorat is craftsmanship and tradition, old and robust vines that are grown and born deep inside the province of Tarragona. They are grown on slopes that are sleety with low fertility and difficult to grow in. In Priorat they produce great red wines of an excellent quality, a maroon colour, robust, dense and rich flavour, intense aromas and sometimes there are reflections present of minerals from the soils.
