Characteristics of Las Beatas
Las Beatas is a wood-aged red wine made by the Lanzaga Winery with the Garnacha Tinta, Tempranillo, Graciano and Garnacha Blanca varieties, in the D.O.Ca. Rioja , in La Rioja.
Bodega Lanzaga is a project created by Telmo Rodriguez and his associate Pablo in La Rioja-Alavesa, specifically in Labastida at the foot of the Sierra de Cantabria. Being great experts and professionals, they know how to obtain wines from historic vineyards in the purest and most transparent way.
Las Beatas is a coupage of four varieties which come from a single old vineyard of 1.9 hectares. An exceptional vineyard (Álava) settled on terraces with conglomerate soils mixed with sandstone and marl. Respectful agriculture is carried out and biodynamic techniques are applied to protect the natural balance of the terroir.
After manual harvest, the Las Beatas grapes are macerated and fermented in the winery with native yeasts in open 3,000-liter oak vats. The wine is then aged for about 15 months in 1,200-liter casks.
As a result of the great wisdom and expertise of the prestigious Telmo Rodríguez, they create a great wine defined by Robert Parker himself as the "Porsche of wines". Las Beatas is a limited-production red wine with a three-dimensional character, an iconic, modern Rioja.
