Characteristics of Lagavulin 12 Years
Lagavilun 12 Years is a special annual edition from the Lagavulin distillery in Islay (Scotland) and the seventh in a series by the original distiller.
This whisky, aged for 12 years, is a fabulously appetizing whisky and a good example of the brand. It contains less citrus acidity than the previous whiskies. It's very enjoyable to drink and is even classier with water.
SightA dark amber colour.NoseA very fine whisky, with less fruity nuances than other Lagavulin whiskies. Beeswax polish and firewood round off a sophisticated set with sweet aromas such as sweet and creamy caramel and biscuits. A trace of lemon and white pepper is noticed too. Water brings up toasted, nutty and smoky aromas.TasteMedium-bodied. Very sweet and smoky on the palate, leaving a tingling sensation on the tongue. Long and smoky finish, with a late whiff of more exquisite and fragrant smoky sensations at retro-olfaction. Hints of toasted sesame seeds and basil are perceived. With water Indian spices appear such as cumin.
