Characteristics of LaFou de Batea
The origins of this winery date back to the twelfth century, although there is previous evidence which show that the Roqueta family already worked in the field of viticulture in Roman times. This succession of generations has for many years been engaged with the respect to the land and the fruits obtained from it. They grow white and red Grenache mainly and their wines aim at reflecting its varietal character and the aromas of the terroir, and to express its depth, its expressivity and its identity. Lafou de Batea 2008 is the second vintage of this exceptional wine with a very limited production.

SightBright and dense, deep dark cherry colour.NoseVery good aromatic intensity. Initially, some sweet notes of nuts are notice, which give way to a very powerful red fruit on a balsamic and mineral background. As it opens up, the notes of fruit evolve and aromas of black fruit compote (made of prunes or figs) are released along with subtle toasted notes, vanilla and nuts.TasteThis wine shows a good, wide and fleshy attack. Thanks to its wonderful acidity, which provides it with liveliness, a very nice mid palate is displayed with a good combination of grape and wood tannins. Its long and persistent finish shows some bitter hints. A red wine to be enjoyed slowly.
SightThis wine has a deep layer, color intense cherry with a garnet rim.NoseThe nose is outstanding for its elegance based on a very fresh red fruit (raspberry and blackberry) given by the Grenache, the core of this wine. Background notes syrah Olive and cherry and plum of the cabernet. A set of great complexity that unfolds in the glass over the minutes, stirring notes of the environment and herb roasted thin barrel.TasteConcentrated wine and friendly, with an acid bulb and light tannins that follow a marked air of the Grenache profile.
Wines from Terra Alta boast a unique character. This is down to numerous factors, including the region's unique wine culture, the location of the vineyards in the inland Mediterranean, and the abundance of native varieties including the Garnacha Blanca, whose white wines perhaps best express the unique character of the terroir. It is for this reason that these wines hold their own distinctive classification of “Terra Alta Garnacha Blanca”.
Mas la Caçadora was founded in late 2003 by a group of wine lovers, the environment and the character of a region like the Priorat. Most of us have a long experience in the wine industry and wine family tradition.
