La Rosa de Finca Sandoval is a red wine from Manchuela prepared by the Finca Sandoval winery.

This winery is a personal project of the famous journalist and wine critic Victor de la Serna, and is located in the county of Manchuela, in the province of Cuenca.

La Rosa de Finca Sandoval is a blend of Syrah (85%) and Garnacha (15%) varieties. The grapes come from vineyards on an estate of 10ha which is divided into 4 plots, each with a different soil.

For processing, a harvest and traditional winemaking process is followed. As for aging, La Rosa de Finca Sandoval Sandoval spends 19 months in barrels of 3000 litres.

Alcohol: 14.5%

Tasting notes La Rosa de Finca Sandoval

Sight Dark cherry red high layer. Nose Intensely aromatic with a presence of ripe black fruits, spicy, toasted and floral notes on a mineral background. Taste Burly, enveloping and very tasty. Silky with a great presence of black fruit. The acidity is well balanced, round tannins. Some liqueur notes, with a long lingering finish.

Winery Finca Sandoval

Over the past few years, the DO Manchuela has worked extensively on improving the quality of its wines, and it is clear that its efforts have paid off. Improved technological advances and greater knowledge in the cultivation of their vineyards have launched the region into a new era. The wines produced here are enjoyed both in the domestic and the international market, with 80% of production sold internationally. Harvests are now carried out slightly sooner to produce slightly subtler wines, with the skins being separated from the must to get more subdued colours, while the wines are cold stabilized and undergo fermentation in controlled temperatures, in search of fruity aromas.

Finca Sandoval is the personal project started by Victor de la Serna, the wine journalist and writer, in 1998. It is essentially based in the production of his own 10.5 ha  vineyards planted with syrah in the heart of Cuenca within the Designation of Origin Manchuela, on calcareous and clay soils at an altitude of 770 m. They were planted on the base of the knowledge acquired over 30 years on the soils of the area, which have an enormous potential for the production of high quality wines, especially red.
