Characteristics of La Movida Laderas
La Movida Laderas is a red wine produced by the winery Maldivinas in Cebreros, Ávila. V.T. Castilla y León.
Maldivinas is a winery founded in 2006 by Juan Carlos Arenas and Guillermo Fernández Santos in Cebreros, a land with a long winegrowing tradition.
Maldivinas has 3 plots of their own, plus another one that was transferred to them and another one they manage. They are located at around 800 metres of altitude, on slate and granite soils. All the farms are cultivated organically, respecting bio-diversity and without using chemical products. The plots are aged from 20 to 80 years old.
The aim of Maldivinas is to extract the aromas and unique tastes from the terroir, which, reflected in the wine, allow us to recognise its origin.
La Movida Laderas is a wine made from Red Grenache from a 1.5-hectare vineyard located on sloping terrain, with an inclination of up to 33%, at 989 metres of altitude, planted on slate, schist and quartz soils. These vines are over 70 years old.
The grapes are manually harvested and placed in 15-kg boxes, with grape selection in the vineyard and the winery. 85% of the grapes are destemmed. They go through a partial crushing and then on to a pre-fermentation maceration of 5 days. The alcoholic fermentation takes place with native yeasts in 1000-litre stainless steel deposits at a controlled temperature (22-26°C). Soft punch-downs are carried out. Once it has ended, it goes through a post-fermentation maceration for 9 days. The malolactic fermentation takes place in used 500-litre French oak barrels where it also ages for 12 months. This wine is bottled without clarifying or filtering.
La Movida Laderas is an expressive, elegant and fresh wine. It stands out for the ripeness of the fruit, the silkiness of its tannins, and its freshness in the mouth.
