La Macabeu del Teixó is a white wine made by Amor Per La Terra with the Macabeo variety in Tarragona (Catalonia).
With the promise of protecting the earth and caring for those who work it, the Amor Per La Terra project was set up in 2019, led by Xavi Rutia, Salvador Batlle and Jaume Jordà and producing natural wines. To do this, they collaborate with organic and biodynamic winegrowers across various regions like Alt Empordà, Penedès and Alt Camp who share the same philosophy.
La Macabeu del Teixó started life in Mas Regany with David Baixas. This vineyard lies in the Tarragona town of Aiguamurcia (Alt Camp) and the vines are planted in clay-calcareous soil. The team works with ecological agriculture and biodynamic treatments, and the harvest is carried out manually when the grapes reach optimum ripeness.
In the winery, once the Macabeu del Teixó grapes are destemmed, they are macerated with skins for 4 days in stainless steel tanks. Fermentation is spontaneous with native yeasts and when the wine is ready it is bottled without filtering or clarifying.
La Macabeu del Teixó is a natural white wine born from the absolute respect of the fruit both in the vineyard and the winery. A deep reflection of the terroir.
