La Creu Alta is a red wine produced by the winery Mas Alta in the D.O Priorat.
This is a small winery, with maximum respect. Respect for the land. Respect for the grape. Respect for the people that work in the fields.
La Creu Alta is a blend of the varieties Cariñena and Garnacha originating from old vines, from 80 to 100 years of age. Planted on slopes in poor, low harvesting slate soils, called Licorella in the Priorat, at an altitude of 300-550 meters above sea level.
The harvest is completed by hand, and the grape receives a double selection process, in which only the best quality is accepted.
The grapes are positioned by gravity during the winemaking process, this is a very gentle technique to increase the natural expression of the grape.
La Creu Alta is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels; 80% are new and 20% in 1 year old barrels.
This is an expressive and authentic red wine from Priorat. A terroir wine. A sublte and complex blend of concentration, depth and finesse.
La Creu Alta can be consumed now, but however, will evolve over the next 10-15 years.

La Creu Alta has good opening on the palate. Elegant, subtle and potent all at the same time. Mature tannins. Mineral memories which give this wine a special personality.

A very long aftertaste evolving into notes of fine wood, black fruit and minerals.
Priorat is craftsmanship and tradition, old and robust vines that are grown and born deep inside the province of Tarragona. They are grown on slopes that are sleety with low fertility and difficult to grow in. In Priorat they produce great red wines of an excellent quality, a maroon colour, robust, dense and rich flavour, intense aromas and sometimes there are reflections present of minerals from the soils.
