La Bota de Florpower 84 MMXVI is a single-variety Palomino white wine made under the supervision of Equipo Navazos in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Spain.
Jesús Barquín and Eduardo Ojeda are two people with a passion for traditional Andalusian wines They founded Equipo Navazos, an initiative that emerged from the idea of a group of friends to share their hobby and recognise and enjoy the value of some of these wines that may not be known or available on the market.
The initiative grew and now Equipo Navazos is dedicated to recovering the best non-fortified dry white wines to bring them to enthusiasts, with no masking and nothing artificial, thanks to collaboration with some of the most important Marco de Jerez wineries with his direct involvement.
La Bota de Florpower 84 MMXVI is a non-fortified white wine, which means it has no added alcohol, as is usually the case with the traditional Andalusian fortified wines. This is the fifth vintage, 2016 (MMXVI), and is made from Palomino variety grapes that come from vines in the Miraflores La Baja plot, in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, which ferment in the same vats where a yeast cap later forms.
The resulting wine undergoes biological aging for 8 months under this yeast cap and is then transferred to a stainless steel tank where it remains for about a year, developing a more subtle influence from the yeast cap before being bottled.
With this range of wines, Equipo Navazos is looking to offer a perfect balance between the characteristics of the biological aging process with the influence of the yeast cap and the fresh expression that represents the identity of the vineyard.
