Characteristics
Jose Pariente Verdejo is a varietal Verdejo from DO Rueda made by Bodegas Jose Pariente.
The grapes are harvested from vineyards over 30 years old owned by the winery, located in the highlands of the Duero River and planted in rocky soil. This area is very poor in organic matter and is exposed to harsh and variable continental climates, typical of the province of Valladolid. The harvest is done at night, taking advantage of low temperatures that help preserve the flavour of the grapes.
Jose Pariente Verdejo is macerated cold for 8 to 12 hours and subsequently pneumatic pressing occurs. Alcoholic fermentation takes place at low temperature in stainless steel tanks. Until the end of the clarification process, the wine is kept on its lees. Finally, it is filtered and bottled.
Bodegas Jose Pariente is located between the towns of Rueda and La Seca, in the province of Valladolid. It has been run by three generations. The family, committed to the tradition, seeks excellence due to its passion for great white wines. This winery is known for the high quality of its production and is one of the wineries of reference in the area.

José Pariente Verdejo 2018 is a white wine that offers a nose of fruity aromas reminiscent of peaches and pears, and citrus notes of lemon and grapefruit. Aniseed and balsamic nuances also appear with a subtle mineral touch. On the palate it is sweet and elegant, the fruit is reaffirmed and persistent, with a slightly bitter finish that is typical of the Verdejo variety.
José Pariente Verdejo 2017 has managed to show all its best in a vintage that was a little complicated due to the frosts in the area. This wine has a high aromatic profile and is dry in the mouth. A variety of citrus fruits and vegetables intertwine with a magnificent youthful flow. A good expression of the Verdejo grape’s varietal character.
The 2016 vintage, rated as very good, began with an autumn and winter with high temperatures for these seasons that predicted an acceleration of the vines’ growth cycle. At the beginning of the spring, temperatures fell and rainfall returned to normal figures. This fact was translated in an adjustment as far as budding and flowering dates. At the beginning of June, the heat arrived and stayed all summer until the beginning of the harvest. In general terms, it was a rainy and somewhat warm year. The wines of this vintage are characterised for being aromatic and with a good acidity. Where wines in their youth will preserve their aromatic and fresh features.
The 2015 vintage was rated as very good in a year where no climatic accident occurred. Autumn and winter were somewhat warmer than normal but with normal rainfall. In spring, the growth cycle started a few days in advance, but temperatures and rains continued normally until the beginning of summer. Days before the harvest, temperatures became milder and the end of ripening was very good. The wines of this vintage are characterised by a good balance between maturity and acidity. A good aromatic profile that will age correctly.
