Characteristics of José Pariente Finca Las Comas

José Pariente Finca Las Comas is a single-variety Verdejo white wine produced by Bodegas José Pariente in Valladolid, Spain, in the D.O. Rueda.

In the 60s, winemaker José Pariente began producing white wines made with Verdejo, the area’s flagship variety. Currently, his daughter Victoria Pariente is continuing the good work started by her father when the current winery opened its doors in 1998 by meticulously cultivating the vines and being firmly committed to research and development.

José Pariente Finca Las Comas is made with grapes that come from an exceptional Las Comas vintage, a small plot located at 730 metres above sea level, planted on gravelly soils with strains over one hundred years old. The wine ferments and ages with its lees in a 2,250-litre foudre for 12 months.

This work results in a subtle and meaty single-variety Verdejo that is free from treacly and artificial notes, and with fewer than three thousand bottles made. A portrait of aromatic elegance that this renowned Spanish variety is known for and that Bodegas José Pariente manages to bottle with masterful skill and care.

Tasting notes José Pariente Finca Las Comas

José Pariente Finca Las Comas is a white wine with a nose of white flowers and aromatic herbs like fennel, with some toasted notes. The palate reveals a subtle aniseed note. It has a broad, unctuous and intense mid-palate and a pleasant finish with a salty touch.

Designation of Origin D.O. Rueda

Winery José Pariente

When we talking about the Rueda wines, we are often referring to their white wines. The white wines produced in this region are often made with the Verdejo variety, the main variety of Rueda, planted along the Douro River and its tributaries. Rueda white wines often offer lots of floral notes, scrubland low, delicate aromas and a great acidity given by strong temperature differences between day and night. Apart from white wine, Rueda also produces red wine, often made with the Tempranillo variety.

Innovation and respect, technology and passion for the great white wines with a marked expression and typicity. This is the creed that the winery José Pariente applies. Its wines have the temperament of their place of origin and at the same time, they show a unique way of understanding the land, the vine and the varieties of the area: Verdejo and Sauvignon Blanc. Its continuous and constant work for more than 50 years marks the characteristics of its white wines, which are diversified today through specific production processes and origins. This has earned them a well-deserved national and international recognition.
