Characteristics of José Pariente Fermentado en Barrica

José Pariente fermentado en Barrica is a white wine from the DO Rueda produced by Bodegas José Pariente.

This is a single-variety (100%) Verdejo wine where the grapes come from old vines with a very low yield.

To make the wine, fermentation takes place in new and one year old French oak barrels from various coopers. Batonnage then takes place over approximately seven months, with the wine in permanent contact with its lees. José Pariente fermented in Barrica is then put into stainless steel tanks, where it remains for five more months. Finally, it is bottled following clarification and stabilisation.

Tasting notes José Pariente Fermentado en Barrica

José Pariente fermentado en Barrica 2017 is a creamy white wine with aromas of very ripe white and tropical fruits and fresh mineral notes. On the palate it is unctuous, deep and complex with a retronasal of apple sauce and a persistent finish.
The 2016 vintage, rated as very good, began with an autumn and winter with high temperatures for these seasons that predicted an acceleration of the vines’ growth cycle. At the beginning of the spring, temperatures fell and rainfall returned to normal figures. This fact was translated in an adjustment as far as budding and flowering dates. At the beginning of June, the heat arrived and stayed all summer until the beginning of the harvest. In general terms, it was a rainy and somewhat warm year. The wines of this vintage are characterised for being aromatic and with a good acidity. Where wines in their youth will preserve their aromatic and fresh features.
The 2015 vintage was rated as very good in a year where no climatic accident occurred. Autumn and winter were somewhat warmer than normal but with normal rainfall. In spring, the growth cycle started a few days in advance, but temperatures and rains continued normally until the beginning of summer. Days before the harvest, temperatures became milder and the end of ripening was very good. The wines of this vintage are characterised by a good balance between maturity and acidity. A good aromatic profile that will age correctly.
Sight Clean and sparkling golden yellow. Nose Intense and complex. Spice and ripe fruit notes together with a touch of wood. Taste Very elegant. It is powerful and spacious, with good acidity. High balanced, wood and fruity touches are noted.
Sight Bright golden yellow. Nose An intense, complex nose with spiced aromas, ripe fruit, smoked notes and a light touch of wood. Exotic fruit and mineral notes also appear. Taste Plenty of volume on the palate. The wine is unctuous and very elegant. Powerful, with a good acidity that gives it a long and lively mid-palate. A great balance of fruit and wood. Sensations from the nose also appear on the palate.
Sight Intense straw yellow colour with golden edges. Very bright and clean. Nose Its intense and marked varietal aromas are accompanied by the complexity provided by the wood during the ageing on its lees. Lots of notes of ripe fruit are noticed along with roasted notes, nuts, creamy spices and subtle touches of citrus and herbs. Taste Very tasty and fresh wine, with a good attack. Long, oily, unctuous mid palate, with notes of ripe fruit mixed with smoked and toasted aromas and intense notes of nuts. It is perfectly harmonious and well balanced. Wine with an excellent acidity and a lingering finish.
Sight Bright yellow and bright flashes of old gold. Nose Memories smoky, toasted and vanilla aromas with ripe fruit. Some notes of exotic fruits and minerals. Taste Flavor is tasty, balanced with its insinuating touches of time in oak. With memories final fruit.

    Designation of Origin D.O. Rueda

    Winery José Pariente

When we talking about the Rueda wines, we are often referring to their white wines. The white wines produced in this region are often made with the Verdejo variety, the main variety of Rueda, planted along the Douro River and its tributaries. Rueda white wines often offer lots of floral notes, scrubland low, delicate aromas and a great acidity given by strong temperature differences between day and night. Apart from white wine, Rueda also produces red wine, often made with the Tempranillo variety.

Its wines have the temperament of their place of origin and at the same time, they show a unique way of understanding the land, the vine and the varieties of the area: Verdejo and Sauvignon Blanc. Its continuous and constant work for more than 50 years marks the characteristics of its white wines, which are diversified today through specific production processes and origins. This has earned them a well-deserved national and international recognition.
