Characteristics of Jean-Claude Lapalu Brouilly Vieilles Vignes
Jean-Claude Lapalu Brouilly Vieilles Vignes is a natural Gamay variety red wine made in the AOC Brouilly (Beaujolais) by Jean-Claude Lapalu.
Jean-Claude Lapalu is the third generation of a family of winemakers committed to the natural expression of the terroir. Since reconstructing their estate in Beaujolais in 1996, their wines have developed and become the first in the area to be awarded 94 Parker points. They work in a traditional way that is as respectful as possible and without adding anything extra. Their aim is to give their wines the best nose and palate.
Jean-Claude Lapalu Brouilly Vieilles Vignes comes from old vines aged from 50 to 70 years old, planted in granite terroir and cultivated strictly in accordance with organic and biodynamic principles. Once the grape reaches optimum ripeness, it is always harvested manually to ensure that the berry reaches the winery in the best possible condition.
When the Jean-Claude Lapalu Brouilly Vieilles Vignes grape reaches the winery it vinifies naturally. They intervene as little as possible in the process, and no sulphites or commercial yeasts are added. It ferments with native yeasts and ages in barrels made with oak from the Trotanoy forest. It is bottled at full moon without filtering or clarifying.
Jean-Claude Lapalu Brouilly Vieilles Vignes is a natural red wine that accurately expresses the complexity of where it comes from. Natural fruitiness of the native Gamay variety.
Jean-Claude Lapalu Brouilly Vieilles Vignes 2018 is a light red wine with fruity aromas of strawberry and raspberry and hints of candied orange. On the palate it is smooth and fresh with a very pleasant balance. The finish is persistent and lightly spiced.
