Characteristics of Jaspi Maragda
A new vintage from Jaspi Maragda, a vintage that has been classified as 'very good' from D.O. Montsant. Jaspi Maragda is a red wine produced by Coca i Fitó Celler, a winery that was born in 2006 with the intention of only producing wine which can convey the identity of the area, D.O. Montsant.
The brothers Coca i Fitó form a good partnership as Toni Coca has a long history of winemaking and Miquel Coca manages the image and marketing of the winery.
With Jaspi Maragda they have managed to find a good balance between aromatic freshness, concentration and maturity.
This wine is a coupage of 55% Garnacha, 25% Cariñena and 20% Syrah grown from old vines between 40 to 100 years old. Finally, this wine undergoes an aging in French and American oak barrels for 12 months.

The DO Montsant is situated in the province of Tarragona, surrounding the DOQ Priorat. Although a young Denominación de Origen, The DO Monstant is located in a land with a large history in winemaking. The wines, mostly reds, are typically made with Grenache and Carignan grapes and are authentic, wild and artisanal. Wines produced in this region are usually extremely good value given the high quality.
The founders of the trade, José Coca and Maria Munné, were natives of Torrelavit, a village near Sant Sadurní vineyards where they already had. Al taslladar Sabadell and after having a grocery business, in the early 30s, started a winery in the corner of Bonavista and Montcada. Ten years later, in the 40s, settled in the current location, the street number 108 Brutau. They have an area of varietal wines made from stainless steel for better preservation.
