Characteristics of Hermanos Lurton Cuesta de Oro

Hermanos Lurton Cuesta de Oro is a white wine from D.O. Rueda produced by the winery El Albar Lurton. It is a single-variety wine made with Verdejo.
The grapes used to make Hermanos Lurton Cuestas de Oro come from a farm owned by the winery and that gives its name to the wine: Cuesta de Oro.
The harvest is performed entirely manually and the grapes bunches go through several selection processes.
When the grapes arrive at the winery, they are separated and subjected to pressing. Hermanos Lurton Cuesta de Oro then goes through a fermentation in new French oak barrels.
Before the ageing, Hermanos Lurton Cuesta de Oro macerated in cold for twelve hours.
Hermanos Lurton Cuesta de Oro then ages for three months in French oak barrels on its lees, with regular batonnages.
The Albar Lurton winery is part of the Spanish group of wineries, François Lurton. This renowned winemaker also makes wines in France, Argentina and Chile.

Tasting notes Hermanos Lurton Cuesta de Oro

Hermanos Lurton Cuesta de Oro 2017 is a creamy white wine that is full and long. The toasted notes of the barrel give the nose elegance and add volume and structure to the wine in a leaner vintage.
The 2016 vintage, rated as very good, began with an autumn and winter with high temperatures for these seasons that predicted an acceleration of the vines’ growth cycle. At the beginning of the spring, temperatures fell and rainfall returned to normal figures. This fact was translated in an adjustment as far as budding and flowering dates. At the beginning of June, the heat arrived and stayed all summer until the beginning of the harvest. In general terms, it was a rainy and somewhat warm year. The wines of this vintage are characterised for being aromatic and with a good acidity. Where wines in their youth will preserve their aromatic and fresh features.
The 2015 vintage was rated as very good in a year where no climatic accident occurred. Autumn and winter were somewhat warmer than normal but with normal rainfall. In spring, the growth cycle started a few days in advance, but temperatures and rains continued normally until the beginning of summer. Days before the harvest, temperatures became milder and the end of ripening was very good. The wines of this vintage are characterised by a good balance between maturity and acidity. A good aromatic profile that will age correctly.
Sight Pretty pale yellow color with golden reflections. Clean and bright, with nice, fine tears. Nose Clean, complex aroma that is rich in nuances. Intense floral, mineral, smoked and spiced notes appear, as well as nuances of dried fruit, following aromas of yellow stone fruits (apricot, peach), white fruits (pear, green apple) and nuances of tropical fruits. Taste Tasty, with a fresh, creamy texture and abundant volume. Good acidity, with very well integrated toasted notes. The long finish eventually gives way to an aftertaste rich in fruity sensations.

Its aromas of yellow stone fruit (apricots and peach), white fruit (pears and green apples) and its hints of tropical fruits are followed by intense notes of flowers and minerals, smoked and spicy nuances and hints of nuts. Taste It is a tasty and bulky wine with a fresh mid palate and a creamy texture. Good acidity. Its toasted notes are very well integrated. After a long finish, an aftertaste full of fruity sensations takes their dominant position. Its intense aromas of apricots and tropical fruits are elegantly melted with the toasted notes provided by the ageing in barrels. Very round wine with an excellent aromatic persistence.

Designation of Origin D.O. Rueda

When we talking about the Rueda wines, we are often referring to their white wines. The white wines produced in this region are often made with the Verdejo variety, the main variety of Rueda, planted along the Douro River and its tributaries. Rueda white wines often offer lots of floral notes, scrubland low, delicate aromas and a great acidity given by strong temperature differences between day and night. Apart from white wine, Rueda also produces red wine, often made with the Tempranillo variety.
