Characteristics of Plácet Valtomelloso
Herencia Remondo Plácet Valtomelloso is a white wine produced by Bodegas Palacios Remondo in the D.O Rioja.
The winery is located in Alfaro, in the far east of the La Rioja (La Rioja Baja). This family winery with a long wine tradition is aided by the great oenologist Álvaro Palacios, the architect of famous wines such as L'Ermita.
Herencia Remondo Plácet Valtomelloso is 100% produced from the grape varietal Viura. The grapes originate from 20 year old vines in sandy loam soils on gently sloped terraces.
For production, after being destemmed and macerated for 8 hours, the must is fermented at a low temperature for with its lees oval oak barrels (smaller barrels).
In the same oval barrels Herencia Remondo Plácet Valtomelloso is aged for 11 months on its lees.

La Rioja is one of the most important areas of wine production in the world. It has a long history, and exceptional soils and climates. From the Tempranillo and Grenache varieties they make great red wines that are masterfully aged which demonstrates the experience passed from generation to generation.
The new and latest stage of Álvaro Palacios as the lead of the family-run winery. As an outspoken advocate of the concept of cru wines, he has turned the land and the vineyard into the identity mark of the wines of Palacios Remondo and into the business success of the winery. Since he joined the family winery in 2000 along with his sister Chelo, and with a renewed significance of the current vineyard they own, the style of the wines of Palacios Remondo has been noticeably transformed in a few years. Mainly with the objective of giving greater importance to the local variety, the Red Grenache.
