Heredad Red is a red wine made in the IO Campo de Borja, by the Valero Carlos winery in collaboration with the winemaker Norrel Robertson, a Scotsman, responsible for several great Grenache wines in Spain.
Heredad Red is a single varietal Grenache using grapes from selected vineyards planted at high altitudes. It is aged in French and American oak barrels for 8 months, which gives the wine a very balanced character.
Heredad Red was created as the older brother of Heredad H, another varietal Grenache, also prepared by Norrel, this wine was well received.
For many years, Aragonese wines were used to strengthen weaker wines, both in Spain and abroad. However, in the past few years Araongese wines have managed to dramatically change this stereotype and their reputation in general. The D.O Somontano region lead this revolution during the 90´s with the cultivation of foreign varieties, but now other wine regions, such as the DOCampo de Borja, have discovered the extraordinary possibilities of one of its native varieties: Grenache, one of the most prominent varieties in Spain. It is not in vain that the DO Campo de Borja is considered "the queen of Grenache".
