Characteristics of Gut Oggau Rosé
Gut Oggau Rosé is a natural rosé wine made with the Zweigelt and Roesler varieties by the Gut Oggau winery in Neusiedlersee-Hügelland (Burgenland).
Gut Oggau brings together a large family of organic and biodynamic wines. Wines with their own personalities that are identified using a fictional character from the Gut Oggau family tree. Run by Stephanie and Eduard Tscheppe, the winery has managed to produce native and completely natural table wines.
Gut Oggau Rosé comes from 30-year-old vines that are planted in limestone, slate and gravel soils. Strains that are cultivated using biodynamic agriculture (Demeter-certified) and with the aim of revealing the complete and natural expression of the terroir. Once the grapes reach their best condition, they are harvested by hand.
In the winery, the Gut Oggau Rosé grape is destemmed, pressed and macerated for 2 hours with skins. Alcoholic fermentation happens spontaneously with native yeasts in oak vats and concrete tanks of 500, 1,000 and 1,500 litres. It ages in oak barrels for 12 months. Once ready, it is bottled without refining, filtering or adding sulphur.
Gut Oggau Rosé is a rosé wine that combines freshness and intensity, a result of combining the grapes that the same winery uses to make the Winifred and Josephine rosé wines.
