Characteristics of Guitian Godello +50 Meses en Botella
Guitián Godello +50 Meses en Botella is a white wine produced by the winery A Tapada in Rubiá de Valdeorras (Ourense), D.O.Valdeorras.
The winery A Tapada was born in 1985 when the Guitián brothers decided to take over the exploitation of a vine plantation in a family farm.
The first wine of A Tapada was made in 1992. It soon became well-known and a reference of D.O. Valdeorras.
The property occupies a total surface area of 12 hectares, of which 10 are dedicated to the cultivation of the indigenous Godello variety. The remaining surface is mainly occupied by the winery, which was built in 1995, as well as a forest of century-old chestnut trees in the northern part of the farm.
Guitian wines are made exclusively with grapes from the farmLa Tapada. The farm's production is closed, this is, that they have a warehouse that is big enough to handle the harvest of their own vineyards. Therefore, their production is considered as Cru Wines or Single-variety Wines, where the characteristics of the winegrowing ecosystem are reflected in the resulting wines.
Guitián Godello +50 Meses en Botella is a wine made from Godello, from their own vineyards, located in La Tapada.
Harvesting is carried out manually, selecting the grapes in the vineyard and in the winery. Fermentation is carried out in stainless steel deposits with local yeasts for two months. Once the fermentation has ended, it rests in the bottle for 50 months, in a reducing environment and complete darkness, before it is launched on the market.
