Characteristics of Gramona La Cuvee Reserva Brut
Gramona La Cuvée Reserva Brut is a cava from the D.O Cava produced by the renowned Gramona winery. This bubbly is a blend of two different grape varieties: Xarel.lo (70%) and Macabeo (30%), two of the most prominent grape varieties in the region.
This cava has a fresh and pleasant character. It rests for 24 months in the bottle with its lees and is very versatile, although ideal to consume while enjoying a good aperitif, and will be a nice surprise for inquisitive palates.
Gramona is without a doubt one of the most renowned Cava producers, although they also produce white wines with great personalities. The winery dates back to 1850, when the outbreak of phylloxera in France forced winemakers and growers to cross to the Pyrenees. Gramona is located in the historical municipality of Sant Sadurní d’Anoia and is home to over 150 hectares of vineyards.

Cava was born under the constant shadow of its French counterpart, Champagne. However, produced over 1,200km away and a gap of over 100 years, Cava was always going to be a completely different product, even if produced using the same method and and sometimes with the same varieties. Firstly the climate and soil have a profound impact on the yields, while the plant strains that thrive here and completely different to those in the Champagne region. Fortunately, as more winemakers are becoming convinced of this, they are producing Cavas with their own personality, showing off the art of the second fermentation in the bottle like no other wine region in the world.
Gramona is a historic family winery located in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, the epicentre of the DO Cava. The first bottles hit the market 120 years ago and today these wines and cavas continue to be developed with the same passion and dedication. These cellars have today become a worldwide reference for lovers of this sparkling wine.
