Characteristics of Goliardo Espadeiro
A new Goliardo produced under the directions of Rodrigo Méndez and Raúl Pérez. This wine is made of Espadeiro, a nearly extinct local variety that is being recovered. It is produced with grapes from hundred-year-old vineyards, following a traditional winemaking process. After that, this wine undergoes 12-month ageing in used French oak barrels.
Very limited production: only one barrel.
It is recommended to aerate the wine for a minimum of 30 minutes and if possible for an hour, since this wine is very much closed at the beginning.
A very different and amazing wine with an Atlantic character. A rarity!

The 2017 vintage has been distinguished by the excellent health of the vineyard and the intense heat. Winter and spring were warmer than normal, accelerating the growth cycle 15 days and which was prolonged during summer, bringing forward the date of the harvest to the end of August. The growth cycle went smoothly, with good flowering and no notable pests. In summer, the drought worsened and in August they began to see symptoms of dehydration in the bunches. However, rains at the beginning of September restored the balance of the vineyard.
The wines of this vintage are identified by having something more volume due to its warmth and great freshness. A vintage to enjoy young, or as it is the norm for great wines of the area, to save for a few years.
SightDeep cherry red with violet edges. High layer. Very good tear.NoseMedium intensity and great complexity. Its subtle notes of red fruits are released along with vegetal, balsamic (eucalyptus) and forest aromas. When it opens up, it gains lots of intensity, becomes clearer and its spicy notes are released along with some hints of coffee and Indian ink and light smoky and incense touches on an intense mineral background.TasteA structured and rustic Galician red wine with a good attack and an outstanding freshness. Its notes of wood are strong but the ripe fruit stands out, although this trend is progressively reversed. These aromas are released along with creamy and herbal notes and some saline touches. Dry but polished tannins. Intense but compensated acidity. Long and persistent finish.
An intense and very fresh easy-drinking wine that will improve over the time.
Rías Baixas wines would not be where they are today without the native Albariño grape variety. Although red wines are also produced in Rías Baixas, practically 100% of Rías Baixas wines are white. Among them, the vast majority of them are made with the Albariño grape. As well as young wines, fresh and aromatic, the region also makes wines aged in the barrels, complex wines with great personalities. Albariño wines can either be single varieties, or be part of a blend with other characteristic grapes of the region: Treixadura, Loureira Blanca and Godello.
Forjas do Salnés is one of those wineries from Galicia with a rebellious and ground-breaking spirit, that seriously opted to make high-quality red wines in an area with a prevailing production of whites. The recovery of century-old vineyards of hardly known red varieties, such as Caíño, Espadeiro and Loureiro, in addition to the white Albariño from the old vineyard, are the base of their wines and a clear reflection of the terroir: wines full of freshness, with a perfect minerality, ample sensations and with a surprising evolution.
