Juvé y Camps is a winery located in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia with over 200 years of history. Faithful to the traditional production methods but at the same time implementing modern production techniques during those phases in which they are needed, it has become a benchmark in the production of cavas.
Juvé y Camps is a winery with more than two centuries of history, located in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, the capital of cava, in the area of Penedés. The story goes back to 1796, the year in which the company was founded by Joan Juvé Mir, a vine grower with a great future view.
Some years later, in 1921, his son Joan Juvé Baqués founded the winery and together with his wife Teresa Camps Ferrer brought out the first sparkling wine under the Juvé brand, produced in the cellars of the country house in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia. In the early 1940s, Joan and Teresa's children, Josep and Joan Juvé Camps, held the reins of the winery and built a new building on the outskirts of Sant Sadurní. They purchased the estates: Can Massana, Alzinetes, El Prat, Mas Pagès and Can Soler, where the Parellada, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot varieties are grown. In the decade of the 1960s, they gave the winery a final boost. They expanded the winery and the subterranean cellars and following their obsession with the quality, they incorporated great technological advances such as the temperature control during fermentation or the installation of pneumatic presses.
In the early 1980s, the Juvé y Camps winery, owned by the third generation of the family, became one of the most prestigious wineries regarding the production of cavas, exporting to many countries around the world: UK, USA, Japan, Germany, Switzerland, Venezuela, ...
In 2000, the construction of the winery in Espiells finished: a modern and superb winery where wines and base wines for cavas are produced.
PHILOSOPHY OF WORK
Since its beginning, the Juvé y Camps winery has stood out for its obsession with quality. Traditional methods in the production of cava in the pursuit of excellence. The quality work begins in the field, during the care of the vineyard, and it goes on throughout the whole process. The harvest is made manually, at the exact moment of ripeness, which is determined by a series of regular controls carried out at the vineyard.
The selected grapes are immediately taken into the winery located in Espiells. This way the grapes arrive healthy and entire to the hoppers and presses, thus getting an extraordinary base wine for the cava production. Cavas are aged in the cellars of Sant Sadurní, in two buildings connected to each other through the ground. Six subterranean floors aimed at the aging of cava, reaching 25 meters deep at a constant temperature around 12 ° C during the whole year and with a capacity of 12 million bottles in its 24,500 square meters.
