G.D. Vajra Barolo Ravera is a barrel-aged red wine made by G.D. Vajra in the DOCG Barolo (Piedmont) with the Nebbiolo variety.
G.D. Vajra is a family winery founded in 1972 by Giuseppe Domenico Vajra on the family’s vineyards in the hills above the town of Barolo. 40 hectares that are currently managed by his son Aldo and used to make world-renowned Barolo wines.
G.D. Vajra Barolo Ravera comes from a single vineyard lying 300 metres above sea level and planted on complex soils of Tortonian marl with clays and sandstones. Environmentally friendly agriculture is used and the harvest is carried out manually when the grapes are fully ripe.
In the winery, the grapes used to make G.D. Vajra Barolo Ravera are manually selected first on the vine, then on the selection table and finally as individual berries after destemming. Vinification takes place in vertical tanks with a unique design and then the wine ages for an average of 26-34 months in large Slavic barrels before being bottled.
G.D. Vajra Barolo Ravera is a red wine with the classic Barolo texture and complexity that stands out for its direct and electrifying acidity.
