Characteristics of Follas Novas

Follas Novas is a single-variety Albariño white wine produced by the Paco & Lola winery, in the D.O. Rías Baixas in Galicia , Spain.

Vine growers and winemakers from the O Salnés region, in Galicia, joined forces to form the Cooperativa Vitivinícola Arousana, which in 2005 founded the Paco & Lola winery. Right from the beginning, they decided to work on their 220 hectares of vineyards using sustainable cultivation and with maximum care for the environment.

The grapes used to make the Follas Novas wine come from vineyards with vines ranging in age from 20 to 40 years old and that grow in plots with loamy-sandy, granitic and slightly acidic soils.

The grapes ferment in stainless steel tanks at 16ºC for 21 days, creating a fresh and fruity wine.

Tasting notes Follas Novas

Follas Novas 2018 is a white wine that offers aromas of apples and pears on the nose, with citrus notes of limes and lemon peel and a nuance of white flowers. On the palate it is light and fresh, reflecting the characteristics of the variety. A white wine with a good fruity intensity.

Designation of Origin D.O. Rías Baixas

Winery Paco & Lola

Rías Baixas wines would not be where they are today without the native Albariño grape variety. Although red wines are also produced in Rías Baixas, practically 100% of Rías Baixas wines are white. Among them, the vast majority of them are made with the Albariño grape. As well as young wines, fresh and aromatic, the region also makes wines aged in the barrels, complex wines with great personalities. Albariño wines can either be single varieties, or be part of a blend with other characteristic grapes of the region: Treixadura, Loureira Blanca and Godello.
