The Freixenet wineries of San Sadurní D'Anoia, Catalonia - Spain, are the perfect harmony between Mediterranean culture, cuisine and, above all, the production of cava.
With over 150 years of tradition behind it, the Freixenet family has been devoted to producing wines. Everything began in 1861, but it wasn’t until 1914 that the first bottle of sparkling wine was launched under the Freixenet name. The Freixenet San Sadurní D'Anoia cavas were built as far back as 1927. Over the years, the brand’s excellent trajectory has been linked to moments in history, either as a sponsor of the Barcelona ‘92 Olympic Games or as an advertising icon thanks to its "Freixenet Bubbles" advertisements (one of which was produced by Martin Scorsese in 2007) that coincide every year with the Christmas holidays, or with its "Niño Freixenet" character from the 1929 World Exposition.
With all this, Freixenet is today one of the most important Cava brands worldwide, and some of its sparkling wine, such as Cordón Negro or Carta Nevada, are already considered essential within its range.
