Esporão Reserva Branco is a white wine made with the Antão Vaz, Sémillon, Arinto and Roupeiro varieties.
Herdade de Esporão is one of the largest wineries in Portugal with a wide-spread reputation. Located in the Alentejo sub-region, this is an extraordinary estate stretching over more than 1,200 hectares with rivers, vineyards, olive trees and a spectacular central lake that regulates high temperatures during the day. 550 hectares are planted with the area’s rich native varieties that allow the team to produce a wide range of wines.
Esporão Reserva Branco comes from vineyards with an average age of 18 years old. These strains are planted in granite and shale soils, enjoying many hours of sun whilst also enjoying the balance brought by the influence of the large central lake. The harvest is carried out manually at the optimum moment of ripeness.
The Esporão Reserva Branco grapes are destemmed and go through a cold settling before macerating with their own skins. They are then pressed, the must is decanted and it ferments at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. It then ages in American and French oak barrels on its fine lees. Finally, it ages in stainless steel tanks and in new American and French oak barrels for 6 months.
Esporão Reserva Branco is a white wine that reveals the consistency and complex profile that is typical of the classic Alentejo wines (Portugal).
