Characteristics of Espantaocells Tinto

Espantaocells Negre 2012 is the new red wine that has just been released to the market by Mont Marçal. It is a blend of Tempranillo and Syrah, from old vines grown in a property located in Font-Rubí, in the region of Alt Penedès, with a short four-month ageing. This wine shows a surprising image: a recyclable glass bottle of one litre with a porcelain stopper.

Tasting notes Espantaocells Tinto

Sight Dark cherry colour with violet nuances. Intense, lively, clean and bright. Nose Clean, fragrant, fresh and seductive nasal aromas with a medium intensity. Its expressive notes of fresh and pleasant red fruit stand out. Little by little these notes turn into black fruit, which is released along with nice floral notes (blue flowers), hints of aromatic herbs and light sweet notes, provided during its ageing in barrels. Taste Such as in the nose, in the palate, this is a fresh, tasty and fleshy wine. Its mid palate shows abundant notes of fruit, a good acidity and an intense but pleasant tannic sensation. Long and persistent finish. This Spanish wine is perfect to be drunk cool.

Winery Mont Marçal

Today, the D.O Penedès is experimenting with viticulture and winemaking like no other region in Spain, home to a vast range of different grape varieties. The region is home to traditional white and red varieties, foreign ones, noble ones, permitted grapes, experimental grapes, and those that demostrate intrinsic qualities. As well as the grapes, the production techniques used are also worth noting, the location of the vineyards, the yields per hectare, the wines produced using traditional, original or even exclusive blends, the different ageing times, as well as the complexity of the different barrels used! But the reality is, given the vast diversity, it can be difficult to pinpoint what really defines a wine from Penedès, since there are so many types of wines and wineries in the region. However, the common denominator of all the wines from Penedès continues to be balance and quality.
