Enate Special Reserva is a red wine produced by the Enate winery in Salas Altas (Huesca). D.O. Somontano.
Enate is a winery founded in 1991 that has quickly become a reference in the Spanish wine industry. Defining itself as a wine cellar of our time, where a passion for tradition coexists with today's modern techniques, Enate offers a wide range of wines that range from typical crianza and reservas to monovarietal reds and whites.
The winery’s vineyard of approximately 500 hectares is distributed throughout the municipalities of Salas Altas, Salas Bajas, Cregenzán and Basbastro. Located at an altitude of approximately 600 metres on very fertile limestone terrain. The climate in this area is continental, the temperatures are very cold in winter and hot in the summers.
Since its beginnings Enate has always enjoyed marrying wine with art, so much so that in 1992 it began to collect national and international contemporary art. Each wine bottle reproduces on its label the work of a well-known artist, created deliberately for the winery.
Enate Special Reserva is a wine made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes grown in our own vineyards. One of the best harvests Enate has had.
The grapes are harvested by hand and put into boxes, upon arrival to the winery each variety is vinified separately. Alcoholic fermentation is carried out in small stainless steel tanks with temperature controlled at 28°C, where the cap is immersed by blades operated by a pneumatic system. The maceration lasts for one month. After this time the wine is transferred in new French oak barrels (Nevers) where it undergoes malolactic fermentation and is aged for 19 months with its fine lees. Before being bottled the wine rests for a year in stainless steel tanks to polish it off perfectly.
Enate Special Reserva 234 is a full-bodied, intense and flavoursome wine. It is unique because of its wide repertoire of aromas and flavours, ranging from ripe berries to the elegant roasted taste from the aging process. It is a limited release wine that is produced only during millesimes, as it does not seek the continuity of a wine profile, but instead the maximum expression of that great vintage.
The work on the label of this wine is by the artist José Manuel Broto.
