Characteristics of El Pedal Blanco
El Pedal Blanco is a monovarietal Viura wine from the D.O.Ca. Rioja by theHermanos Hernáizwinery.
El Pedal Blanco is part of the collection of Zone Wines by Hermanos Hernáiz, makers of the famous Finca la Emperatriz. To make this collection the winery uses grapes from various plots in the Rioja Alta, taking advantage of its different soils and microclimates while always seeking to make wines with a fresh and fruity profile.
The vineyards for El Pedal Blanco are in the Rioja Alta. Those from Fuenmayor and Cenicero are trained in the traditional bush system and those of Baños de Rioja are wire-trained. Overall, the vines are on average 35 years old. The harvest is carried out manually using "bins", large 150 kg boxes.
To vinify El Pedal Blanco the grape is pressed in an inert atmosphere to avoid oxidising the must. Afterwards, these are discharged by gravity into cement tanks, thus removing burrs, earthy remains and impurities in the musts. They then ferment in stainless steel tanks at a temperature of 16 ºC. Fermenting at low temperature, enables the fruity aromas of the grape to be extracted and preserved better. After the wine has fermented, it remains in contact with the fine lees for a month. This procedure will provide the wine with more body and creaminess.
El Pedal Blanco is a fresh and fruity wine with a floral touch.

Winery Viñedos Hermanos Hernáiz (Finca La Emperatriz)
Rioja is one of the most important areas of wine production in the world. It has a long history, and exceptional soils and climates. From the Tempranillo and Grenache varieties they make great red wines that are masterfully aged which demonstrates the experience passed from generation to generation.
Finca La Emperatriz is a winery in La Rioja that cultivates its vineyards with millimetric precision. They are parcelled out to produce modern wines, both in classic coupages with grapes of different varieties and plots, to achieve round, balanced and tasty wines. Just as in their single-vineyard wines, which show the personality of the grape and the character of the specific terroir where they come from.
