Characteristics of El Buscador
El Buscador is a red wine from Rioja, produced by the Finca de la Rica winery. The winery is located in Labastida, south of the province of Alava.
The blend is made primarily from the Tempranillo, from the westernmost region of La Rioja, and Garnacha, a centenarian grape.
The Tempranillo grapes come from old vines planted 40 years ago at 585m of altitude, on clay-limestone soils.
The vines are planted on south-facing glass slopes.
For processing, 75% of the grapes are de-stemmed and 25% undergo carbonic maceration. Then the wine is fermented in stainless steel. The malolactic fermentation takes place in French oak Bordeaux barrels.
