Dry River Lovat Syrah is a barrel-aged red wine made by Dry River in the New Zealand town of Martinborough (Wellington) using the Syrah variety.
Pioneers in the Martinborough region, Dry River was founded in 1979 in one of the best areas for producing quality grapes on New Zealand’s North Island. Managed by a team of seven people with a passion for winemaking, they produce very personal wines that faithfully reflect the terroir.
Dry River Lovat Syrah comes from an area known as “Martinborough Terrace”, a very dry gravel area with good drainage that produces some of the best Syrah grapes in the area. The team use environment-friendly agriculture without any chemical products, and the harvest is carried out manually.
In the winery, the best grapes are selected to make the Dry River Lovat Syrah, and they are destemmed and gently crushed. They then macerate and ferment in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. Finally, the wine ages for 12 months in French barrels.
Pioneering the introduction of the noble Syrah variety to the region, Dry River Lovat Syrah is the result of the professionalism and experience of the great Dry River team. Here they have created a complex, fruity and very silky red.
