Tasting notes Dominio de Valdelacasa

The vintage began with a rainy autumn and low temperatures that produced frost for days in a row in December. At the beginning of March, temperatures began to recover and at the beginning of April, the start of the growth cycle was already visible. Due to the persistence of high temperatures, the growth of the vines took place faster, bringing forward the flowering. In June, temperatures dropped but in July they increased significantly, causing the dehydration of some berries. In August and early September the weather evolved normally, until the arrival of the harvest. As a result, we have a year with wines of good body and acidity. Fluid wines in their youth and with a good ageing capacity.
Sight Dark cherry colour with violet reflections. Clean and very bright, with thin and slightly coloured tears. Nose Medium-robe nasal aromas with notes of ripe, fleshy and expressive fruit. After swirling the glass, its spicy and roasted notes are released followed by final light balsamic nuances and mineral notes. Taste In the palate, this red wine is powerful, fleshy and tasty. Balanced acidity, intense tannic sensation and long and persistent finish.

Designation of Origin D.O. Toro

Winery Frontaura

In Toro, the red wines are mainly made with the Tinta de Toro grape variety, planted on soils of fluvial origin by the influence of the Duero River and its tributaries, grown on poor, sandy and dry soils the further away you move from the river. Toro offers powerful wines, well bodied, flavourful, complex, and tannic. Although on a smaller scale, the region also produces white wines using the Verdejo and Malvasía varieties. Since the ´80’s, Toro has experienced a revival in its wines, thanks to a new generation of highly skilled winemakers and the installation of many big names in the region, such as Pintia, a winery belonging to the Vega Sicília group, or Teso la Monja, part of Sierra Cantabria.
