Characteristics of Dominio Campo Viejo
Dominio Campo Viejo is a red wine from the D.O. Rioja, produced by the winery Campo Viejo. It is a blend of the varieties Tempranillo (90%), Graciano (5%) and Mazuelo (5%).
After harvesting, the grapes for Dominio Campo Viejo ferment in stainless steel tanks under a controlled temperature of 25ºC. Following this the grapes undergo a long maceration with their skin for 28 days.
The grapes, depending on the which plot they come from, grow autonomously. The grapes for the Dominio de Campo Viejo are harvested from five different plots and six vinifications are carried out. At last Dominio Campo Viejo stays in French oak barrels from the woods Troncais and Bertranges for 11 months and is then put on the market.
The bodega Campo Viejo, which belongs to Grupo Domecq, has the most modern and privileged facilities that can be found. Campo Viejo is located in the heart of La Rioja.

La Rioja is one of the most important areas of wine production in the world. It has a long history, and exceptional soils and climates. From the Tempranillo and Grenache varieties they make great red wines that are masterfully aged which demonstrates the experience passed from generation to generation.
Campo Viejo has a long history that goes back to its first vintage of 1959, which was produced in the old wineries of Ortigüela, until the launch of the state-of-the-art sustainable winery in 2001. Here, the long dedication of Campo Viejo to the production of Rioja wines, alongside the application of the most advanced techniques, has allowed them to develop new combinations in the traditional methods to currently offer more modern, vibrant and expressive styles of wine.
