Characteristics of Domaine Philippe Alliet Chinon Vieilles Vignes
Domaine Philippe Alliet Chinon Vieilles Vignes is a monovarietal Cabernet Franc red wine produced by Domaine Philippe Alliet. It is classified as a wine from the AOC Chinon.
Domaine Philippe Alliet is a winery located in one of the emblematic areas of Chinon. It is a fourth generation family winery. They have cultivated their 17 hectares of vineyards since 1990. The plots are distributed between Chinon and Cravant-les-Coteaux. The soils of the vineyards are sandy, and sandy with gravel at the top of the hill, where the oldest vineyards are located.
The vines for Domaine Philippe Alliet Chinon Vieilles Vignes have an average age of about 70 years and are located in Côteau Noire, in plots with calcareous soil. They are harvested manually to preserve the grapes intact until their arrival in the winery and to select the best bunches in the field.
Once in the cellar Domaine Philippe Alliet Chinon Vieilles Vignes ferments in stainless steel and cement tanks and is then aged for a year in 400 litre used French oak barrels to prevent the wood from affecting the wine too much while still allowing it to evolve.
Domaine Philippe Alliet Chinon Vieilles Vignes is an intense and complex wine with a good ageing capacity.
