Characteristics of Domaine Guiberteau Les Arboises
Domaine Guiberteau Les Arboises is an organic red wine of the Cabernet Franc variety, produced by Domaine Guiberteau, in the Saumur region of the Loire Valley, in France.
Domaine Guiberteau Les Arboises is the result of selecting grapes from a single 1.65 hectare plot with clay-calcareous soils facing south, in the town of Brézé, in Saumur. The bunches are entirely hand picked. They are then transported to the winery where they are pressed and fermented with their native yeasts. Lastly the wine ages for 18 months in French oak barrels of different sizes and ages.
Domaine Guiberteau, run by Romain Guiberteau, who belongs to the fourth generation of the family, has been cultivating according to the principles of organic agriculture since 2003 thanks the advice from the Foucault brothers of Clos Rougeard. In the vineyards the use of chemical products is prohibited. All the vineyards on the estate are harvested by hand and no yeasts, enzymes or stabilisers are added during the winemaking, and only the minimum amount of sulphite is incorporated before bottling.
Domaine Guiberteau is a family winery that is constantly growing, and has managed to position its wines in the best restaurants in France.
Domaine Guiberteau Les Arboises 2015 is a red wine with a powerful but subtle nose, where fruity notes of blackberries and blackcurrants appear, and mineral nuances that are typical of the terroir, as well as toasted memories that evoke the barrel ageing and spicy aromas that are typical of the variety. On the palate the fruit is concentrated and the minerality is still present. This vintage offers silky tannins and a lingering, fresh finish.
