Domaine des Pothiers L'Intégrale is an organic monovarietal Gamay Saint Romain red wine from the AOC Côte Roannaise produced by Domaine des Pothiers.
Domaine des Pothiers is a family winery founded in 1916. They cultivate Gamay Saint Romain, a unique Gamay clone. Part of its vineyard was planted in the 1970s, but the winery made a qualitative leap with the onset of the 21st century. When the current manager Romain Paire joined the Domaine in 2005 he restored the winery, began cultivating organically and planted vines that eventually covered 10 hectares. Nowadays the winery is taking a step towards respecting the nature and biodiversity of its vineyards by encouraging their biodynamic cultivation. Its plots have granitic soils and are located about 500 metres above sea level.
The vineyard for Domaine des Pothiers L'Intégrale is a small 0.8 hectare plot located 450 metres above sea level with granitic soils. It is harvested manually so that an initial selection of bunches can be made in the field and to ensure that the grapes arrive in the cellar as intact as possible.
When it arrives at the winery, the Domaine des Pothiers L'Intégrale harvest is destemmed completely, eliminating all the stems from the bunches, and fermented for 20 days in 500 litre barrels. Once the fermentation has finished, the wine undergoes 11 months of ageing in those same barrels.
Domaine des Pothiers L'Intégrale is a wine with a storage potential of about 15 years. A rich and structured red with spicy and fruity notes.
