Domaine des Amiel À Coural is an organic and natural red wine coupage made mainly from Syrah with a small percentage of Grenache. It is produced by Domaine des Amiel.
Domaine des Amiel is a winery owned by two young brothers, Aymeric and Jordan Amiel, located in Languedoc-Roussillon. It is located in the small town of Montblac, between Narbonna and Montpellier. It cultivates its 10 hectares of vineyard certified organic and biodynamic.
The vineyard for Domaine des Amiel À Coural has an average age of about 20 to 30 years. Its yield is moderately low, from about 30 to 40 hectolitres per hectare, so its grapes are structured and concentrated and the plots are harvested by hand so that an initial selection of bunches can be made in the field.
When the Domaine des Amiel À Coural, harvest enters the winery it is destemmed and pressed and then vatted without adding commercial yeasts or sulphites. The wine ferments and macerates for one to four weeks until the desired structure is achieved. It remains resting in its tanks for 6 months before the final decanting and bottling. It is bottled without filtering or clarifying and a little sulphite is added to improve its resistance to oxygen and to preserve its fruity aromas and flavours more and better.
Domaine des Amiel À Coural is a very traditional natural wine with a limited production. Only some 7,800 bottles are produced annually. The name comes from the nickname of the brothers’ great-grandfather, and is a tribute to the hard work he devoted throughout his life to improve the family estate.
