Domaine de Pallus Chinon is a monovarietal Pinot Noir from the AOC Chinon, in the Loire area, produced by Domaine de Pallus.
Domaine de Pallus cultivates its 18 hectares of vineyard in the municipality of Cravant-les-coteaux. Twelve of them have limestone soils and six sandy gravel. The property has belonged to the same family since 1889, and in 1985 it began to specialise in the production of fine wines. It is currently run by Bertrand Sourdais, who, after working in the famous Spanish winery Dominio de Atuata for over ten years, decided to return to his native Chinon. Now in Domaine de Pallus, he cultivates his vineyards and vinifies seeking to express their terroir in the best way possible.
Domaine de Pallus Chinon is the result of the vinification of two plots: Los Tiriots, planted in 1974 and La Rougerie in 1952. Vinification takes place in 15 to 19 hectolitre open wooden vats and the wine is then aged in Burgundy barrels for 24 months. The final wine is bottled without being clarified or filtered, and therefore deposits may appear in the bottle.
Domaine de Pallus Chinon is an elegant and structured wine. It is a good expression of the terroir from which it comes.
