Domaine de la Pinte Arbois Cuvée d'Automne is a white wine that is a coupage ofChardonnay and Savagnin in proportions that vary depending on the vintage. It is produced by Domaine de la Pinte and belongs to the AOC Arbois, in Jura.
Domaine de la Pinte is a family winery run by the second generation that has 34 hectares of vineyards planted mainly on blue marl soils at about 400 metres above sea level in Arbois and Pupillin. They have farmed organically since 1999 and biodynamically since 2009, and they produce wines that are singular and highly typical.
The vineyards for Domaine de the Painting Arbois Cuvée d'Automne have blue marl soils in the case of those of the Savagnin, and calcareous clay with blue marls in the case of those of the Chardonnay. Their average yield per hectare is very low, around 30 hectolitres, and they produce concentrated and balanced grapes. All the plots are harvested manually in order to be able to respect the wholeness of the grape from the very beginning of the vinification process.
Domaine de la Pinte Arbois Cuvée d'Automne is made according to the traditional method of white wine making. The harvest is pressed when it arrives in the winery and the must is cleaned by decanting so that the fermentation can proceed cleanly. It then ferments with native yeasts in vats with temperature control and then also undergoes malolactic fermentation. Lastly the wine is subjected to 4 years of ageing in foudres and/or barrels. Only a part of the Savagnin is aged under the veil of flor, "biological ageing", and the rest undergoes a normal ageing in barrels, "oxidative ageing".
Domaine de la Pinte Arbois Cuvée d'Automne is a very complex Jura white with fruity aromas that is balanced and silky, and with a fresh finish.
