Domaine de l'Horizon Rosé is a biodynamic and organic, barrel-aged rosé wine made by Domaine de L'Horizon with the Garnacha Tinta variety in the French denomination of VDP des Côtes Catalanes, in Languedoc-Roussillon.
Thomas Teibert is a German winemaker who, having worked in different European wineries, decided to settle in the town of Calce (Roussillon), in southwestern France, in 2006, to make his own wines. Under the name Domaine de L'Horizon, he creates low production terroir wines that are pure, fresh and mineral.
Domaine de l'Horizon Rosé comes from 70-year-old vines planted on slopes of slate and shale. These are old vines lying in a very special enclave between the Pyrenees mountain range and the Mediterranean Sea. They are cultivated using ecological agriculture alongside organic treatments and following the biodynamic calendar. The harvest is carried out manually with very low yields (15hl / ha).
In the winery, the Domaine de l'Horizon Rosé grapes are firstly gently pressed and then spontaneously fermented with native yeasts for a few hours. Finally the wine ages for 9 months in used Stockinger barrels.
Domaine de l'Horizon Rosé is a great Roussillon wine that is completely different to the rosés from the south of France. An explosion of fruit with a Mediterranean character.
