Domaine Chandon de Briailles Corton-Maréchaudes Grand Cru is a biodynamic red wine made by Chandon de Briailles in the AOC Corton-Maréchaudes Grand Cru (Burgundy) with the Pinot Noir variety.
Domaine Chandon de Briailles is a historic estate dating back to 1834. However, when Claude de Nicolay took over running the estate in 1988, a new era began. All vineyards are EcoCert and Demeter certified, and this winemaker seeks to produce traditional-style wines, with minimal intervention in the winemaking and aging process. As Claude himself explains, he is simply guiding natural processes.
Domaine Chandon de Briailles Corton-Maréchaudes Grand Cru comes from vines of about 45 years old planted in a shallow earthy terroir with iron-rich clay soils. They are cultivated using organic and biodynamic agriculture without using any kind of synthetic products, instead using natural methods that boost the plant's immunity. The grapes are harvested by hand.
A few days after the harvest, Domaine Chandon de Briailles Corton-Maréchaudes Grand Cru begins to ferment naturally with 60% of the whole clusters in open cement vats. It then ages in used French oak barrels for between 14 and 18 months. When it is ready, the wine is bottled without clarifying or filtering.
Domaine Chandon de Briailles Corton-Maréchaudes Grand Cru is a natural red wine made on a fantastic Grand Cru estate, full of elegance, finesse and juicy fruit.
