Characteristics of Cume do Avia Viño Tinto Dos Canotos
Cume do Avia Vino Tinto Dos Canotos is an organic red wine made with 40% Caiño Longo, 35% Sousón and 25% Bracelao varieties by the Bodega Dos Canotos winery and belongs to the D.O. Ribeiro.
Cume do Avia is a young winery founded in 2005 by three friends. It is located at the top of the Avia river valley, from where it gets its name. It cultivates its vineyards organically, and its purpose is to produce high quality wines that are the expression of the terroir, while respecting the environment at all times.
To produce Cume do Avia Dos Canotos Red Wine, each variety is vinified separately with native yeasts, those of the grape itself, and without adding commercial yeasts. The wines macerate with the skins for an extended period of one month. Lastly, the wine is aged in a century-old chestnut barrel. Cume do Avia does not filter or clarify the wine because they consider that performing these operations removes aromas, body and pleasant compounds. For this reason, a little sediment may appear in some bottles.
Cume do Avia Albariño Dos Canotos is a fresh and spicy red wine prepared organically with the native varieties of the Riberio area.
Cume do Avia Vino Tinto Dos Canotos 2017 is an intense and complex red wine. The aromas of red and black fruits, undergrowth and spices like pepper stand out. It has a balsamic touch that gives freshness. It is fresh and direct on the palate. With herbaceous notes and a long aftertaste.
La Treixadura has established itself as the prominent variety of the Ribeiro. The variety has become irreplaceable in the region, responsible for the fame achieved by the region's wines, as well as their glorious past. It is a well planted strain, vigorous, fairly resistant to disease, with middle productivity and late maturing, which helps produce wines with a spectacular and personal character through the variety, full of freshness and flavour in the mouth, and added mystery.
