Characteristics of Cos Pés
Cos Pés is a white wine made by Forges Salnés winery in the Rias Baixas.
Forges Salnés is a small family winery, located in Cambados (Pontevedra), with the collaboration of Raul Perez, the great Spanish winemaker.
Cos Pés is 100% made from Albariño. The grapes come from a single vineyard of old vines, aged between 40 and 50 years, planted on sandy soils and boulders, located very near the sea.
The development of Cos Pés begins with a harvest and manual selection of grapes. Once in the winery the grapes are gently pressed until they ferment. After the fermentation, the wine is macerated with the skins in vats of used oak for 12 months.
Cos Pés was established from the collaboration between Raul Perez, the great Spanish winemaker and Rodrigo Mendez, one of the biggest names in the Rias Baixas.

The Albariño grape is a spanish white variety with a strong floral and terpene character, ideal for producing not only young fresh and aromatic whites, but also (barrel) aged wines. Initially the DO. Rías Baixes was only seen as a region of great hope for Spanish whites, but it has managed to turn this hope into reality.
Forjas do Salnés is one of those wineries from Galicia with a rebellious and ground-breaking spirit, that seriously opted to make high-quality red wines in an area with a prevailing production of whites. The recovery of century-old vineyards of hardly known red varieties, such as Caíño, Espadeiro and Loureiro, in addition to the white Albariño from the old vineyard, are the base of their wines and a clear reflection of the terroir: wines full of freshness, with a perfect minerality, ample sensations and with a surprising evolution.
