Characteristics of Colosia Fino

Colosia Fino is a fino produced by the Bodegas Gutiérrez Colosia in Puerto de Santa Maria, Cadiz, under the D.O. Jerez.

The winery was founded back in 1838 and is situated at the mouth of the River Guadalete, on the Bay of Cadiz. The location of the winery is perfect for the production of wines, with the dry Levant wind and the humidity of the Atlantic offer an ideal self-regulation of humidity.

Colosia Fino is made exclusively with the Palomino Fino grape variety, aged using the solera system for 3 years under a cap of flor yeast. Once the wine is selected, it is fortified to 15%, with wine alcohol added to start ageing under the flor veil.

Winery Colosia

Jerez is home to an exceptional culture in winemaking and viticulture, producing an incredible variety of wines. Sherry and the DO. Jerez region are unlike any other wine or region in Spain and symbolise a centuries-old culture and a true art form of ecological tradition. Even today it is fair to say that these wines have not found their equivalent in the world, and are therefore a real asset to the Spanish word of wine.
