Characteristics of Château Piron Graves Rouge
Château Piron Graves Rouge is a red wine coupage of the Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot varieties produced by Château Piron in Bordeaux, France.
The grapes used to make the Château Piron Graves Rouge wine come from vineyards planted in clay-calcareous gravel soils with vines aged around 25 years old. Traditional winemaking methods are used. The resulting wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and is racked ready to age for around twelve months, depending on the vintage, in oak barrels, 50% of which are new and the rest have been used once.
Château Piron is a centuries-old winery dating back to 1699. Its 23 hectares of vineyards lie on the slopes of Saint-Morillon and they say that the wealth of these vines lies in the poverty of their soils.
Château Piron Graves Rouge is a great introduction to Bordeaux's expression of great Graves wines in a way that is very accessible to everyone.
Château Piron Graves Rouge 2018 is a red wine with aromas on the nose of red and black fruits, mainly currants, accompanied by smoked and toasted notes and floral and spicy nuances. On the palate it is juicy, reaffirming the presence of ripe red fruit. This is a silky red wine, with marked tannins and a long mid-palate. It will age well for up to 10 years.
