Características de Castaño Rosado

Monastrell Rosado is a rosé wine from the D.O Yecla produced by the Castaño winery. This is a single variety wine made with the Monastrell grape variety, the most cultivated variety in the region.

The stark contrasts of temperature in the region, especially between summer and winter, is excellent for the maturation and development of the grapes at the vineyards. Rainfall is scarce, although occasional downpours occur once and a while, with the sun as a constant factor throughout the year.

The grapes used come from a vineyard located 750 metres above sea level, with a north-south orientation. The vineyards are home to stone and chalk soils, and vines that are over three decades old with a density of 1600 vines per hectare. The vines at the winery are goblet-pruned.

Once the grapes have been harvested, they are transported to the wineries facilities, where they are pressed. Following this, without undergoing maceration, the grapes ferment at a controlled temperature of 16ºC. Monastrell Rosado is then bottled and cold stabilised without being aged.

Castaño is a pioneering winery in the D.O Yecla. In 1985, the winery bucked the trend of bulk producing wines, by becoming the first winery in the region to start selling bottled wine. The Castaño winery has enjoyed great success abroad, with 90% of production exported outside of Spain.

D.O. Yecla

Winery Castaño

The DO. Yecla is currently submerged in the midst of a revolution, led by small private wineries and cooperatives that are fully grasping the cultivation of vineyards and the use of new technologies, working with the star trademark grape: the Monastrell. Over recent years, the region has been producing high quality red wines that have not only built a strong reputation, but are also leading the way for a great future. D.O Yecla is without a doubt one of the most dynamic Denominaciónes de Origen. The region also boasts a strong export market, with 95% of its products sold outside of Spain, with their wines enjoyed by over 40 countries throughout the world.

Other wines from D.O. Yecla

Ever since its founding in 1950, Bodegas Castaño has stood out for its pursuit of quality in each and every one of the wines it produces. Located in the Yecla Denomination of Origin, this vineyard produces several varieties, but it is the Monastrell, by far the most cultivated, that is the undisputed king of the cellar.
