Cascina Roccalini is a family winery that has owned vineyards since 1920. In the past it had always sold its grapes, and it was in 2005 when it started making and bottling its own wine. It cultivates its plotsorganically and biodynamically, and seeks to create happy and balanced wines that clearly express their terroir and philosophy. The production is small and very traditional: it produces only 10,000 bottles.
The vineyards for Cascina Roccalini Barbaresco Roccalini are cultivated biodynamically without certifying. The vineyard is very small, about 4.5 hectares.
Cascina Roccalini Barbaresco Roccalini is fermented in stainless steel tanks and then aged in Slavonia oak Garbellottos,, large 2,120 litre and 1,000 litre barrels, for 12 months. It is bottled without clarifying or filtering to preserve the aromas and the structure of the wine more, although slight precipitates may appear at the bottom of the bottle. The total production is approximately 5,000 bottles.
Cascina Roccalini Barbaresco Roccalini is a typical Nebbiolo, with tannins present, a high acidity that gives freshness, and aromas that may evoke tar and roses.
