Characteristics of Casalabor
Casalabor is a red wine made with the Arcos variety and produced in Valencia by Rafael Cambra.
This winery is located in a small enclave that borders four provinces, in the Valencian town of Fontanars dels Alforins. The project’s architect, Rafael Cambra, is committed to cultivating the land with the minimum of intervention and to enhancing the native varieties by means of the warmth of the climate and the height of the plots.
The grapes for the red wine Casalabor are taken from a plot located 680 metres above sea level. These are strains that are over 40 years old planted in clay-calcareous soil and influenced by a continental-Mediterranean climate. In the field the winery is committed to minimum intervention, and when the grape is at its optimum moment of ripeness it is harvested manually.
In the cellar Casalabor ferments with native yeast in small stainless steel tanks with 30% of the stems, and undergoes a light treading. A maceration is carried out at 26ºC for about 20 days. Ageing is undergone in French oak barrels for 12 months.
Casalabor is a red wine that is created using simplicity and common sense.
